Short video clips
I saw this freak event in March 2015 with photography friend Lachlan Hall. Somehow a Pipi (Paphies australis) managed to clasp onto the toe of an unsuspecting Australian Pied Oystercatcher (Haematopus longirostris). The bird was obviously distressed by its unwelcome associate and the birds mobility in the air and on the ground was clearly impaired.
The other Oystercatcher's avoided the pipi bearer, not wanting to share in what must be the greatest of all humiliations, an Oystercatcher catching pipi (see image HERE)
